In South Africa, there are currently 3.7 million AIDS orphans, as reported in the National Action Plan for Orphans and other Children Made Vulnerable by HIV and AIDS (NACCA) for the period 2009-2012. The plan indicates a steady increase in the proportion of children who have lost one or both parents, rising from 17% to 21% over a five-year period from 2002 to 2006. Additionally, it is estimated that 42% of boys and 43% of girls in South Africa will experience some form of abuse before reaching the age of 18, according to Ciet Africa (2002). The collective impact of factors such as HIV/AIDS, poverty, the absence of fathers in many children's lives, and the prevalence of child abuse, neglect, and exploitation is likely to significantly diminish children's quality of life and the future of their communities.
About Walter Sisulu Child & Youth Centre
The CMF backs initiatives, research, and monitoring efforts aimed at removing obstacles to adoption and fostering the growth of our youth. We have pledged to adopt 10 boys from the center. This commitment entails actively promoting their physical well-being, with the aim of nurturing successful individuals who will contribute positively and significantly to our nation.

Program Objectives
Our objective for the Walter Sisulu Child and Youth Centre was to establish a funding program for organizations committed to caring for abandoned children and orphans. Collaborating with these organizations has enabled the Collen Mashawana Foundation to support children by offering healthcare and educational opportunities, stable housing, and adoption services.
