DISABILITY CARE

Meeting the demands of youth development in South Africa requires strong partnerships with a multiplicity of actors. The Collen Mashawana Foundation works with partners at all levels of society to ensure that children in South Africa are afforded the best chance to grow up educated, healthy and protected.
With national and international development partners, the Collen Mashawana Foundation forges alliances to improve the mechanisms of development assistance while leveraging resources for the benefit of children and women.
We have adopted Kasi Hero Foundation in Soweto. Kasi Hero is an NGO that currently feeds over 500 kids daily and also runs a day care centre for 20 children whose parents cannot afford ECDC. The NGO mainly relies on donations for funding.
Kasi Hero works with 10 volunteers who do not receive a salary. We adopted the NGO and donated money towards stipends for the volunteers for one year. We further donated blankets, food, clothes, school tables & chairs, books, stationery & educational toys for the kids. We strongly support initiatives that aim for community development as this improves the lives of citizens and assists in overcoming the many societal challenges that inhibit talent and economic growth.
The purpose of adopting this NGO is to provide the necessary support that will enable the amazing work they are doing to uplift their community and to also motivate others to do the same.
GOAL: Engage main challenges affecting children and the Early Childhood Development sector (ECD) in South Africa.
ACHIEVED: More children of the Kasi Hero Foundation are in better quality provision than before. However, much still remains to be done before we can say with confidence that the needs of our youngest children are being met.
