Building A New Home For 76 Year Old Gogo Ngqulwana Who Used To Live In A Car

During the month of March 2022, News Reporter Zikhona Tshona covered a story of 76 year-old Gogo Ngqulwana who lived in an old broken car in Orange farm. She reached out to the The Collen Mashawana Foundation and requested that we help Gogo. Upon CMF team visiting Gogo and witnessing her inhumane living conditions , we immediately moved her out of the car and built her a temporary structure.

A collaboration between Gauteng Human Settlement, Department of Social Development and CMF led into Gogo receiving a new home in Savanna but was blocked by the community members who protested against her receiving the home.

After a number of interventions, On the 13th August 2022, Gogo Ngqulwane finally moved into her new home. Collen Mashawana visited Gogo and made sure she is comfortable in her new home. CMF further donated groceries, blankets, and more furniture.
