Gogo Alphosina Nini Dlamini

Gogo Alphosina Nini Dlamini is a 77-year-old who is partially blind because of her medical condition. She has been staying in Caluza, a semi-rural area outside Pietermaritzburg since 2009. She currently stays with 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren children. She lost her two sons back in 2005 and before they passed away they pleaded with her to take care of their children.

Gogo Dlamini lives in a dilapidated mud house that was severely damaged by heavy rains and recent floods that hit the area. The house leaks incessantly and Gogo Dlamini has to be on her feet whenever it rains to save her belongings. Gogo Dlamini’s family survives on her monthly Old Age Grant as no one is employed in the household.
