The Collen Mashawana 40/40 Challenge
As I contemplate my birthday and the numerous blessings I am thankful for, I am reminded of the profound significance of time as one of our greatest and most essential gifts. This includes the time we share with loved ones, the time dedicated to activities we cherish, and the time devoted to learning, laughter, and personal growth during our time on Earth.

In contemplating my birthday and the many blessings I am thankful for, I am reminded of the profound value of time as one of our greatest and most essential gifts. This includes time spent with loved ones, pursuing passions, learning, growing, and the precious time we have on Earth.

Among the most valuable aspects of time is the opportunity to serve others, knowing that it can lead to significant change. With my 40th birthday approaching, I am inspired to imagine what could happen if everyone dedicated a day to helping someone else or assisting the most vulnerable members of society. What if we then encouraged our friends to do the same?

I believe that supporting the welfare of those in need is a way to help them regain confidence and rebuild their lives. For my birthday, I have invited several friends, including entrepreneurs, actors, musicians, and activists who are passionate about improving the lives of the less fortunate, to join me in dedicating a day of their lives to visit various communities and spend the day assisting the most vulnerable individuals there. The goal is to show that ordinary people can support each other and enhance lives in every corner of our country.

Additionally, the foundation has used this challenge as an opportunity to fundraise, with the proceeds being donated to an old age home chosen by the winner. Some of the notable individuals who have accepted the challenge include businessman TT Mbha, actor Lebo Jo Jo Gunguluza, entrepreneur Zareef Minty, musician DJ Jawz, musician Rabs Vhafuwi, entrepreneur Thandeka Nombanjinji-Nzama, and more.

I hope that each participant helps someone else lead a fulfilling life on their own terms, and I hope they inspire countless others to also dedicate a day of their time. If you are able, I invite you to join us and pledge a day today to serve others in a way that feels meaningful to you. Your donated time can contribute to a national wave of service and initiate meaningful change in our communities and beyond.
