The Collen Mashawana Foundation partners with IDC to Reconstruct Houses affected by the 2022 Floods in KwaZulu Natal.

The Collen Mashawana Foundation and the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) hosted a sod turning ceremony for the rebuilding of homes damaged by the 2022 floods in KwaZulu-Natal. The partnership seeks to assist flood-affected community members of eThekwini in KwaZulu-Natal to rebuild their homes.

As part of the initiative CMF & the IDC will be joining hands in the rebuilding of 10 houses. CMF, which has already built over 300 houses in support of destitute families, is partnering with the IDC, whose humanitarian relief response has reached over 45,000 beneficiaries at 250 sites across the country.

In addition to rebuilding the houses, the homes will be fully furnished, and equipped with septic tanks and Jojo tanks and vegetable gardens will be cultivated. The initiative aims to contribute to ongoing efforts to support the reconstruction of the flood-affected KZN region.

The 2022 floods caused significant damage to homes, infrastructure, and properties in many areas, resulting in loss of life, destruction of livelihoods, and displacement. CMF & IDC share a common purpose of supporting communities in need and providing opportunities to access resources that enable self sustainability.
